Today’s award goes to Egyptian science teacher Ahmed Gabr. The Express reports:
Terrified children were left screaming and fleeing from their classroom in Cairo, Egypt just moments after Ahmed Gabr, 38 showed the class how to produce a mild reaction by producing oxyhydrogen – or bang gas as it is also known.
But the chemistry teacher has now become a worldwide laughing stock after he bungled the quantities, which caused the tumbler to explode, showering the room with sparks, flying glass and boiling chemicals.
Some of youngsters could even be heard praying as they fought to escape from the classroom while others shouted out in distress.

That would be the most awesome science class EVER.
Hah! Hope no one was seriously hurt, but good to know science teachers are up to their usual tricks. In high school I recall being evacuated from the "science wing" after a teacher somehow managed to drop a chunk of phosphorus into a bucket of water. Apart from all the exothermic excitement he created an impressive quantity of choking white fumes.
On a less spectacular but funnier occasion the same man was demonstrating centrifugal force by swinging a bucket of water in a vertical circle while standing on a chair. He lost control of the bucket after hitting something on the ceiling (probably, and ironically, a sprinkler head), drenching himself and the first two rows of the classroom. Good guy, though. Always an exciting time with Mr. D.
I know nothing about the sodium in the fishtank. Especially not about putting the wring chunk into the fishtank. Really.

And that kids, is why we wear SAFETY GLASSES whenever doing science….
And why were all the kids just running around while Teach was talking?
