It's always been a point of contention about when, exactly, transplanted Northerners become Southerners. Most folks believe 3rd generation; I figured if the 2nd generation grows up & works locally, that's good enough. 🙂

Speaking of wbich– I knew a guy in high school, born here, parents white S. African emigrants. We were somewhere filling out "official" paperwork when when he was asked the 'race' question, by a black clerk. Imagin the look when he answered 'African-American'…..and proved it!
