So you want to work for Google?

I found an interesting, amusing and challenging article at Business Insider, which claims to list fifteen questions actually posed by Google interviewers to prospective employees. They’re a bit mind-boggling at first glance! They include:

  • How many golf balls can fit in a school bus?
  • How much should you charge to wash all the windows in Seattle?
  • Why are manhole covers round?
  • How many times a day do a clock’s hands overlap?
  • A man pushed his car to a hotel and lost his fortune. What happened?

There are more at the link – and yes, the answers are provided! To whet your appetite, here’s the answer to the second question above:

This is one of those questions where the trick is to come up with an easier answer than the one that’s seemingly being called for. We’d say. “$10 per window.”

Interesting and entertaining reading, even if you don’t want to work for Google!

  1. The most interesting thing about the article is the discussion on the various questions in the comments. Can't believe the time & energy some people put into questions that are mainly used to guage an interviewees APPROACH to problem solving.

Having said that, the article and questions were also interesting.
