The establishment vs. Donald Trump

I’ve been both amused and bemused by the torrent of vitriol being unleashed by the establishment and their paid lackeys in the news media against Donald Trump, now that he’s effectively clinched the Republican Party’s Presidential nomination.  There’s been a veritable blizzard of negative propaganda against him, and a great deal of it is coming from those who are (at least nominally) Republicans!  Talk about shooting your own party in the foot . . .  Their time to act against him was when he had not yet secured the nomination.  Too late for that now.  Unite behind him, or see your party perish.

(Oh – and it doesn’t matter a damn to me whether your party survives or perishes.  I don’t vote for the party.  I vote for the individual.)

As for Trump himself, I remain uncertain whether or not he’d be a good President or not.  Nevertheless, I’m forced to agree with Ted Nugent, who said back in March:

At this time I do not endorse Donald Trump anymore than I endorse Ted Cruz as I admire both gentlemen. But these points are SO damn special!

  • Obama is against Trump
  • The Media is against Trump
  • The establishment Democrats are against Trump
  • The establishment Republicans are against Trump
  • The Pope is against Trump
  • The UN is against Trump
  • The EU is against Trump
  • China is against Trump
  • Mexico is against Trump
  • Soros is against Trump
  • Black Lives Matter is against Trump
  • MoveOn.Org is against Trump
  • Koch Bro’s are against Trump
  • Hateful, racist, violent Liberals are against Trump

Bonus points:

  • Cher says she will leave the country
  • Mylie Cyrus says she will leave the country
  • Whoopi says she will leave the country
  • Rosie says she will leave the country
  • Al Sharpton says he will leave the country
  • Gov. Brown says California will build a wall

Sounds like the kinda president the US needs!

Methinks Mr. Nugent has a point or three there . . .

  1. Sometimes the enemy of your enemy is still your enemy.

Trump is golfing/texting buddies with Boehner, sellout extradorinaire. He's hired a Soros hack / Goldman Sachs VP for his finance team, etc.

    Trump—just another Democrat, except a badly-mannered one.

  2. The simple fact is that our next president will be Trump, Clinton, or some unexpected third party that the vested interests shove down our throats through invisible back room machinations.
Trump might do some good, probably do things I don't agree with as well.
Clinton sold her soul to the Devil long ago, would gut our First and Second Amendment rights to please her base and sell out the country in exchange for large donations to her personal slush fund they laughingly call a foundation.
And a mysterious third player, big business as usual, crony capitalism ramped ever higher, all while the common folk suffer.
So much as I'd prefer a better choice, my vote goes for Trump.

    1. What you said. I'd prefer a better choice, but that's not going to happen. As such, Trump is my only option, even if some folks claim he's just a "clone" of Hillary…even if that were true, better a clone that's *likely* to do things that I strongly disagree with (understatement…) than an *original* who is *certain* to do everything she can to hasten the collapse of this nation! In my opinion, at least. God bless. 🙂

  3. Trump will *probably* screw over the American people.

Everyone else in the race would *definitely* screw over the American people.

    So he has my vote.

  4. It is a conceit to believe that you can ever know "the person" you are voting for.

Men and women date, sometimes for years. The person they are dating becomes an object of intense study. Many hours are spent solely fixated on learning about the other person. And men and women often surprised to find that the person they married is NOT the person they believed them to be when they were dating.

It comes down to the preponderance of evidence. Who, of the two, is more likely to have committed fraud, security breaches, dereliction of duty and other sundry felonies.

  5. I know Hillary will try to screw us. I think there's only a 90% or so chance that Trump will try to screw us. Therefor, in the absence of any other viable candidate (Gary Johnson isn't viable, even though I like him a lot more), I'll have to vote for Trump.

However, it still amazes me to see that so many people think Trump is anti-establishment. He is the very opposite. He is a crony capitalist who bought and paid for the establishment. He's the purest form of the corrupt collusion between business and government, without filtering it through politicians. We are skipping the people receiving the bribes and going straight to one who pays them out. How can people not see that looking at his record, his waffling on nearly every issue, and the books he published advocating lying to people by telling them what they want to hear so you can close a deal? He literally wrote a book describing exactly what he's doing.

  6. Diddo on what Mike said. Trump is a big government corporate croney. It's infuriating to see how this has all played out since we actually had a legitimate chance to nominate a Reagan-style conservative. I would also have to disagree with the notion that the media doesn't like him. He was on the media constantly and they basically let him say whatever he wanted, including attacking Ted Cruz's dad as being a potential co-conspirator in the JFK assassination as "reported" in the National Enquirer. He decided he wasn't going to debate anymore, and not a single talk-show host called him on it. I mean seriously, we went two months without a republican debate once we finally had the field narrowed down enough to have a strong, substantive debate, and then Donald Trump refuses to debate. Think that strategy will work against Hillary? Sheesh.

  7. The only thing we have to worry about is whether Trump is telling lies and Clinton is telling the truth.

TRUMP : NATIONAL RIGHT TO CARRY. The right of self-defense doesn’t stop at the end of your driveway. That’s why I have a concealed carry permit and why tens of millions of Americans do too. That permit should be valid in all 50 states. A driver’s license works in every state, so it’s common sense that a concealed carry permit should work in every state. If we can do that for driving – which is a privilege, not a right – then surely we can do that for concealed carry, which is a right, not a privilege.
The gun-free zones are target practice for the sickos and for the mentally ill. They look for gun-free zones. The six soldiers that were killed. Two of them were among the most highly decorated, and they weren’t allowed on a military base to have guns. And somebody walked in and shot them, killed them. If they had guns, he wouldn’t be around very long. I can tell you, there wouldn’t have been much damage. I think gun-free zones are a catastrophe. They’re a feeding frenzy for sick people.
The way I look at it, you take Chicago, you take Baltimore, you take various other places where you have tremendous gun violence and death, right? The strictest laws in the United States– in the world– for guns happens to be Chicago where they have a lot of problems. Baltimore, a lot of the places where you have the biggest problem is where they have the strongest laws. So I don’t think it’s about laws.

CLINTON: I have been for the Brady bill; I have been against assault weapons. I have voted not to give gun makers and sellers immunity. And I would hope that [others] would join the Democrats who are trying to close the Charleston loophole. We need to move on this consensus that exists in the country. It’s no longer enough just to say the vast majority of Americans want common sense gun safety measures including gun owners.
“We’ve got to rein in what has become an almost article of faith that anybody can have a gun anywhere, anytime,” she said. “And I don’t believe that is in the best interest of the vast majority of people.”
Hillary Rodham Clinton offered her support for a legislative proposal to license hand guns. The legislation, sponsored by Sen. Charles Schumer, would require anyone who wants to purchase a gun to obtain a state-issued photo gun license. “I stand in support of this common sense legislation to license everyone who wishes to purchase a gun,” Clinton said. “I also believe that every new handgun sale or transfer should be registered in a national registry, such as Chuck is proposing.”
If you own a gun… make sure it’s locked up and stored without the ammunition. In fact, make it stored where the ammunition is stored separately. We’ve made some progress in the last several years with the Brady Bill and some of the bans on assault weapons, but we have a lot of work to do.

  8. I've been registered as a Democrap here in MD. Since '72, when I graduated High School. At first cuz Mom and Dad(God bless 'em)were happy to vote for JFK, later cuz in a state like MD.,I thought I could at least monkey-wrench in the primaries, knowing the Dem. Was gonna win most elections here, I'd vote for the least harmful, Then vote GOP in the General. As my son pointed out, "How's that workin' for ya?" I switched to GOP this year to vote for Cruz, but again my luck is holding steady. What amuses me is the Trumpet's strident "support Trump, or HILLARY!! YOUR FAULT!!" routine. No, it's Donald's fault, for making all those donations to the boss of an on-going criminal enterprise. _I'VE_ never given a Clinton money or my vote in my life, can Trump say the same? I can happily vote for Mickey Mouse for president, and concentrate on beans, bullets and Band-Aids for the next 4 years, Regardless of who wins.
