When I started this blog, a little over 10 years ago, I could hardly imagine that it would be happily chugging along, with several thousand readers each day, long enough to reach a thousand in my “Doofus Of The Day” series. Well, here we are at last. I wonder if the blog – and its author – will still be around for #2,000? (If you’d like to read all the other 999 Doofi of the Day, in reverse chronological order, see here.)
At any rate, today’s Doofus is from Melbourne, Australia.
The 37-year-old Yallambie man bought the 2013 Porsche Cayenne and filmed himself driving more than double the speed limit along Melbourne’s Grand Prix Circuit.
Within about 10 minutes of buying the car he had been pulled over by police who impounded his brand-new vehicle.
. . .
The man’s car was impounded for a month and he is expected to be charged on summons with speeding and using a mobile phone while driving.
There’s more at the link.
So he lost his Porsche after only ten minutes of ownership, for driving it like a Doofus. Classic! What’s more, it wasn’t even a sports car, but a crossover sports utility vehicle, so he can’t claim cool points.
Peter
At least it wasn't a minivan. They deduct points for those.
In Italy the record for wrecking a seven-figure supercar is about half an hour.
62 in a 25? was he nervous about geting in an accident?
He should have told the cop he was part of a team filming a car commercial.
Erm…. It's a CAYENNE that he had, which is a pucka sports car, the SUV you're thinking of is a CAYMAN
