Instead of the roman candles, one of those $40 balloon popping lasers?
The laser might even be able to create enough heat to light up the hydrogen.
Or if you used two balloons tied together, one filled with a oxy-acetylene mix and the other with hydrogen or helium to lift the pair.
Oxy-acetylene filled balloons are very dangerous.
When they explode a large fireball is the result and hopefully it is just a fireball and not a explosion.
