In case you missed it . . .

. . . the world’s worst rendition of ‘O Holy Night‘ has been circulating since it was first arranged, and later performed, by Steve Mauldin in 1990.  A tip o’ the hat to the lovely Phlegmmy for introducing me to it . . . I think!  I’m not sure when this particular version was recorded, but whenever it was, it must have been a sad day in the studio.

Ye Gods and little fishes . . .

  1. Quite obviously, someone needs to hunt-up this "Steve Mauldin" character and help to put him out of his misery…at the very least, he should be thoroughly – and permanently – disabused of any vestige he may somehow harbor that he has any "talent" whatsoever as either an "arranger" (more like a dis-arranger) or a vocalist (I will NOT refer to him as a "singer"; that is NOT singing, merely raucous vocalizing…horrid noise, attempting to masquerade as "singing". I've heard jackhammers that were more musical than that…)

All vestiges of that…caterwauling – should be obliterated, wherever and however found.

  2. Reminds me of contestants on "America's got Talent" and "American Idol", but I confess he's got most of them beat.

  3. "O Holy Night" is on my list of "songs I know my voice is not good enough to sing in public." Alas that this individual didn't get that sort of memo.

  4. I always preferred the disco version myself.
Although I always thought Johnny and the Hurricanes' instrumental version is really cool as well.
