New world distance record for a paper airplane

It seems a new distance record has been set for a paper airplane. Joe Ayoob threw this John Collins-designed ‘plane’ for 226 feet 10 inches last month.

In my youth, my paper airplanes were lucky to make it across the width of a classroom! Congratulations to the new record holder.

  1. We use to make them and fly them in class all the time. Put a paper clip on the fron for extra weight and you could span the room.Often, lunch time in the cafateria saw a 150 planes zooming all over. Teachers sometimes even joined in.

    Alas, that was the mid-50's.

Today they'd be banned for safety reasons. What if they hit someone in the eye?

Same thing has happened to dodge ball. It smarted getting hit, but what didn't kill you made you stronger.

I guess today what doesn't kill you makes you richer (think law suits).

  2. We sent our grandchildren a paper airplane book for Christmas two years ago. The last time I saw it, it was shredded. I hope ….. 🙂
