I thought I’d seen most of the gun camera footage from World War II that’s been converted to video format, but courtesy of XBradTC at ‘Bring the Heat, Bring the Stupid’, here’s a collection that’s entirely new to me. Of particular interest, towards the end of the clip, are shots of Messerschmitt Me-163 Komet rocket fighters and Me-262 Schwalbe jet fighters being attacked by Allied aircraft. The footage isn’t very distinct at times, but then, it’s historically unique.

Some of the ground attacks were….too close? A couple looked like they were going to park next to the targets.

Yep, couple of target fixations there… Interesting that they were able to get rounds on either the Komet or the Schwalbe, as they normally were max speed one pass, haul ass…

The Komet had to have been gliding toward his base. No fighter could have stayed with it while under power. That the fighter nearly had a mid-air from overtaking shows how slow the rocket plane was moving.
I would suspect the jet was also on his way back to base, as he was too low for a bomber attack profile. Probably lost an engine due to throttle movement at low rpm's. Dead meat in that situation, as restarting was problematical. Head in the cockpit doing that would just compound his situation.
Low and slow and short on fuel was where most of them were lost.
